Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral or prescription to start physical therapy?
Nope — you can come straight to us! NJ follows a Direct Access law, which means you don’t need a referral from a physician to begin physical therapy. Doctors of Physical Therapy are trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat you — often all in the same session — saving you time, hassle, and money.
Do you accept insurance?

We’re a cash-based, out-of-network provider, which means we don’t bill insurance directly and we’re not enrolled with Medicare. This model allows us to give you truly personalized, one-on-one care without the restrictions or time limits that insurance companies often impose.
You may be eligible for reimbursement if you have out-of-network physical therapy benefits. We’ll provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance.

We accept credit cards, cash, checks, FSA/HSA cards, and Zelle.

What’s the difference between cash-based and insurance-based physical therapy?

The biggest difference? Time and quality of care.

In a cash-based model, every session is 100% one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy — not being passed off to aides or left to do exercises on your own. There are no insurance hoops to jump through, no visit limits, and no restrictions on what we can treat or how we treat it.

We’re free to use every tool in our toolbox to help you reach your goals — whether recovering from an injury, building strength, or seeking preventative care. With insurance-based clinics, your care is often dictated by what your insurance plan allows, not what you need.

Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?

In many cases, yes! If your plan includes out-of-network benefits for physical therapy, you can get reimbursed for part of your treatment. We’ll give you everything you need to file a claim, including receipts and the correct billing codes.

Every plan is different; contact your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network physical therapy benefits before starting therapy.

How long will I need physical therapy?

Because we work outside insurance limits, we can focus on what matters:  getting you better, faster. Most clients see us 1-2x a week (instead of 3x or more at typical clinics). Because each session is more focused and efficient, they often need fewer visits overall.

When you factor in co-pays, deductibles, and the time spent at traditional clinics, you may save money and get better care with our model. And best of all, your care plan is always tailored to you — no cookie-cutter approaches!

What's the difference between a DPT and a Fellowship-trained DPT?

All physical therapists earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), the standard degree to practice.

A Fellowship-trained DPT takes it a step further. Fellowship training is highly specialized and is only pursued by a small percentage of physical therapists. It involves advanced, post-doctoral training in orthopedics and manual therapy, including intensive clinical mentorship, advanced hands-on techniques, and high-level assessment & treatment skills.

Consider it the difference between a general physician and a specialist — both are qualified. Still, the fellowship-trained DPT brings an even deeper level of expertise, especially in complex or challenging cases. It’s a commitment to clinical excellence and providing the highest level of care.

What types of injuries or conditions do you treat?

We specialize in orthopedic injuries — from back, neck, and joint pain to post-op rehab and sports injuries. We also work with active individuals looking to move better, lift stronger, and prevent future injuries through strength and performance training.

Do you only treat athletes or active individuals?
Not at all. While we love working with active people, you don’t need to be an athlete to benefit from physical therapy here. Whether you’re chasing PRs, chasing kids, or just trying to live pain-free, we’re here to help you move better and feel stronger.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first session includes a detailed evaluation where we’ll take the time to learn about your goals, assess your movement, and pinpoint the root of the problem. You’ll also receive the necessary hands-on treatment and begin working on a personalized care plan that day — no waiting, no fluff.
How long are your sessions?

Most sessions are 60 minutes, but we adjust based on your needs — some may be shorter, others a bit longer. Every session is one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy, with no assistants or distractions. You get our full attention and a treatment plan focused on your goals.

What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows you to move freely and gives you access to the area we’ll be treating. Sneakers or training shoes are best.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book directly through our website, call, or text. We also offer a free Discovery Call if you’d like to chat first and see if we fit your needs.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes — we offer telehealth services for those who can’t make it in person or want guidance from home. These sessions are great for check-ins, exercise progressions, and ongoing support.
